MISA is continuing to provide migration-based advice and support in 2016. Return migration support will no longer be paid to those who left Estonia after 30 April 2016.
In previous years, expulsion support was allocated for humanitarian reasons to those being expelled from Estonia in order for them to return to their home country. Similar support was also provided for asylum-seekers and people who had illegally entered the country to leave Estonia via funding from the European Refugee Fund, the European Return Fund and the Estonian Ministry of the Interior.
Since the merger of the Estonian Migration Foundation and the Integration Foundation in 2010, neither people who illegally enter the country and who are subject to expulsion nor asylum-seekers have received material support from the Integration and Migration Foundation. Those being expelled from Estonia are dealt with by the Police and Border Guard Board, with people who illegally enter the country being assisted in returning by the Estonian office of the IOM.
