National minority culture societies can now apply again for financial support
03.03.2014

PRESS RELEASE

A round of applications for the base financing of national minority culture societies valued at 320,000 euros has been launched by the Integration and Migration Foundation ‘Our People’ in association with the Ministry of Culture.

The aims of umbrella organisations of national minority culture societies are to showcase the unique aspects of the national cultures represented in Estonia and to support the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. Culture societies and umbrella organisations inform Estonian society of the multicultural nature of the country and foster cooperation among themselves and with Estonian culture societies.

Financing can only be applied for by umbrella organisations and their member organisations that were attested by the Office of the Minister of Population and Ethnic Affairs in 2008 or the Ministry of Culture in 2009 or 2013.

Support for activities was distributed to 230 national culture societies via 18 umbrella organisations in 2013.

The deadline for applications is 28 March 2014. The terms and conditions of the competition are available on the foundation's website.

Information days for the competition will be held from 11:00-12:30 on 13 March and from 14:30-16:00 on 14 March at the foundation’s offices at Lõõtsa 2A, Tallinn. Please register in advance for the information day by e-mailing kristina.pirgop@meis.ee.
