Umbrella organisations for national minority cultural associations can now apply for activity support

A round of applications for 320,000 euros in activity support for the umbrella organisations of national minority cultural associations has been launched by the Integration and Migration Foundation. The current round of applications makes it possible to apply support for a three-year period.

These umbrella organisations aim to showcase the unique aspects of national cultures and to support the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage in Estonia. The activity support being offered for three years is designed to contribute to the sustainability of organisations representing national cultures and to promote closer ties with Estonian cultural institutes.

“The umbrella organisations have been really good and really trusted partners to the state over the years,” said Dmitri Burnašev, the director of the Integration and Migration Foundation. “With longer-term support they’ll be able to better plan their activities and as such look to the future with a much greater sense of security. And that’s important, because national minority cultural associations enrich our cultural landscape.”

Support was granted to 231 such associations via 19 umbrella organisations in 2014.

The deadline for the submission of applications is 9 April 2015. More information on the terms and conditions of the competition and the paperwork required can be found on the website of the Integration Foundation.

For those interested in applying, information days will be held at the foundation’s offices in Tallinn (Lõõtsa 2A) at 14:00 on 19 March and 10:00 on 20 March and at its advisory centre in Narva (Kerese 3, Kosmonaudi 4, 3rd floor) at 10:00 on 21 March.

Please register in advance for these events by e-mailing

The round of applications is guided by the objectives set out in the ‘Integrating Estonia 2020’ development plan and is being financed from the state budget via the Ministry of Culture.
