MISA supports events and cooperation activities of cultural associations

The Integration and Migration Foundation Our People (MISA) has launched a project competition aimed at cultural associations of national minorities operating in Estonia, whose objective is to help societies support the preservation and introduction of their native languages and cultures in Estonia.

“With the help of the competition we support the organisation of cultural events and traditional festivals of different national minorities with an aim of ensuring that they will take place consistently and become a tradition. In addition, with various activities we wish to encourage mutual cooperation and joint activities between national minorities and Estonian cultural societies,” MISA’s Head of Partnership Relations Kristina Pirgop introduced the competition.

“In 2016, it was possible to visit several interesting events organised by national cultural societies that we also supported under the 2016 project competition. For example, the joyful Kvity Ukrainy children’s and youth festival of Ukrainian culture, the Multicultural Pärnu 2016 festival held in the summer capital in August as well as the 4th international Slavic culture festival Svetoch 2016. In autumn, the traditional National Cultures Creative Pot festival was held in Jõhvi. These are only a few examples of the events held during the year,” commented Pirgop.

An applicant may be a legal person in public or private law and a sole proprietor registered in the Republic of Estonia.
